Environmental Product Declaration (EPD - Environmental Product Declaration -) is a scheme of voluntary product certification, born in Sweden but of international importance, developed under the ISO 14025: 2006 - Environmental Labeling Type III.
It is a document that allows you to communicate objective information, comparable and credible relating to the provision of environmental products and services.
To be validatable, the environmental performance of the product, described in the EPD, must comply with the criteria and requirements set out in a document called PCR - Product Category Rules - which, indeed, will dictate the "rules" for a certain product category .
The EPD allows you to:
- assess the environmental quality of products and reduce the environmental impacts associated with the product
- keep the costs of management and production
- promote the use of technologies and eco-friendly materials
- help define the business strategies in terms of product design and / or alternative processes and more sustainable
